Did you know that google has accidentally made an invasion. It made a machine so powerful that it can program itself, called as a Neural Turing Machine. To put that is simple words. It can learn listen and gain knowledge like humans. Which is a mind blowing fact. But it is just the tip of the iceberg.

 

Google a search engine company that is started in 1997, by 2 college mates of Stanford Sergey Brin and Larry page. First when the internet became popular these two became interested in finding an advanced yet an user friendly way to get information through the internet. And hence created a software called as back rub, which later became to be known as google but it was a misspelled word of the word googol which is a mathematic term for 1 followed by 100 zeros which used to signify that they are as big as that number. Their headquarter is located on California called google plex. Which is also derived from a mathematic number called googol plex which is even bigger number,1 followed by 1 googol zeroes. Do you know the no internet Dino game in google, well that is inspired by the real skeleton statue of t-rex, which also has a deep meaning in it it is used to signify that google must not become extinct like dinosaurs did. Their headquarters is the most employee friendly office that you have ever seen! It is most concentrated on the stress relief for the employees, for that, they have slides inside their offices for going down from one floor to another, they have a ton of massaging chairs and playgrounds for their employees and moreover they have a rule that there should be a café every 200m, and in that café all the food is free to eat and it is unlimited.

They make around 200,000 dollars every minute, which is just insane. And if an employee dies, their family gets half of his wage for the next 10 years. If you are a well experienced employee, then you are a googler, if you are a newbie then you are a noogler if you left the company then you are an ex- staff so you are a xoogler, if you have a pet then you are a doogler. Weird at first sight, but google likes being fun, moreover this attitude is also a major contributor towards their success.

On august 16 2013 google went down for 5 minutes due to an error in their server, at that time the internet traffic gone down by 40%, think it in this way, 1 site across the entire internet makes 40% of the internet traffic, that too in 2013, and that’s when we can see the true potential of this site. In 1999 google wanted to sell their search engine tech to yahoo to tie up with them for $2 million. But yahoo declined it. Well after that in 2002 realizing the true potential of google and the decline that yahoo got, yahoo wanted to buy that company for 3billion dollars but this time google declined it, as their company worth way more than that.

 Now as per the stats of 2019 google has translated their their homepage in more than 80 languages the most newly added languages include.. Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Somali, Zulu, Mongolian, Nepali, Punjabi, and Maori. BY the way, the translate feature in my website is powered by Google, so you will see all those newly added languages in there.

In 2014 , 89% of their revenue came from the SEA(which stands for “Search Engine Advertising”). 33 % of all searches in google comes from smart phones so in April 21 they announced officially that they are introducing new algorithm to rank up the sites which has higher mobile optimization. As per the stats of Jan 2017 google had about 90% of the market share.

On 15 September 1997 the first U.R.L of google, the google.com was registered. Did you know that google gets about 3.5 billion searches a day. Google search index is more than 100 million gigs in size which means they have to have 100,000 terabyte of hard disks to bear it.

Each day they get 20 petabytes of information, to visualise this much information in real life, it would take millions of cup boards with information fully packed, just to get 1 PB information, and google is getting 20 of them daily, but still google goes through all of this in a split second, that is how big and powerful the engine is.

The world watches around 450,000 years of You tube videos a month, that is over twice as long as modern humans have existed. The google homepage is so sparse than other websites because Larry and Sergey did not know html on those days of early google , but as it became a minimalistic design they stuck with it. The g-mail was launched in April 1 2004, and offered 1 gig of local storage in them which compared to 2 megabytes from Microsoft was epic but the only problem was people thought it was an April fools day prank, so it backfired at them, but still, soon they realized that it wasn't a prank

Google became vital for our living

Google uses the re-Captcha to teach AI machines to understand handwriting, each day google's AI solves around 200,000 captcha's everyday, both text and image captcha, so their machines can understand words even if they are warped. And that is how with each update the google lens can understand your hand writing even if they are messy.
